Dance Styles

Acrobatics is an important aspect of the performing arts and is very beneficial in the strength and flexibility of the dancer. Acro classes are fun and exciting, yet they are also challenging as acro is a physically demanding activity. We teach acro from ages 5 and up and our teachers are fully qualified through Gymnastics NSW.

Classical ballet is a specific technique that gives you a full understanding of your body. Our teachers are fully qualified, and we offer RAD exams to those students who attend 2 classes of ballet a week. Exams start for students aged 6 and over, but we teach ballet from the age of 2.

Boys Hip Hop
Boys only Hip Hop class that will guarantee to challenge boys through intricate and fun hip-hop moves.

Contemporary dance is a blend of ballet and modern dance. It builds a strong centre and combines precision legwork with the fluidity of the torso. Contemporary dance encourages self-expression, natural movement and personal interpretation.

Jazz dance represents our popular culture and it is forever changing. Jazz dance enhances flexibility, movement, and fitness levels. This form of modern dance is a great work out for all ages and levels of ability.

Commercial Jazz
Is a stylised combination of Jazz, Funk and Hip Hop and is used by commercial dancers. Challenging classes are offered for all ages. A big workout is GUARANTEED!!

Singing is offered by appointments only. It is an important skill that anyone who is thinking about becoming a performer should learn. Nearly anyone who can speak can sing since in many respects singing is a form of sustained speech. We offer classes for all ages and abilities.

Tap ‘N’ Beats
TAP ‘N’ BEATS is a Fun, Exciting, Modern Tap Syllabus created by Nathan Sheens. This new upbeat syllabus incorporates 9 stages and exams. Dance Avenue is excited to be a part of this New Generation In Tap. Download our Tap flyer.

Theatre Jazz
Theatre Jazz is an evolution of jazz dance that is inspired by the appeal of Broadway in the 1950’s. It is a performance style of Jazz which was popularized to a large extent by Bob Fosse’s work. Theatre Jazz is also used in stage shows today.

Studio Uniforms

All students are required to wear appropriate dance attire to all of their classes.

Hair is to be neat and tidy. Dance Avenue has a recommended uniform which can be purchased from the studio.
