Dance Avenue – Creating Style

Dance Avenue is one of the biggest open class dance companies in Sydney’s west. We offer open classes in Ballet (R.A.D) Tap, Jazz, Commercial Jazz, Boys Hip Hop, Tiny Tots Classes, Acrobatics, Modern/Contemporary, Singing and Theatre Jazz!! Troupe classes are also available.

At Dance Avenue we Create Style, from the way we dress down to how we perform on stage. Our aim is to be fun and for all to enjoy while offering you the best in Sydney’s west.

Meet the teachers

Michael Corbett

Michael Corbett

Director / Choreographer

Since graduating in 2009 with a certificate IV in Performing Arts at ED5 International, Michael has become one of the most reliable commercial dancers in Australia. He has performed all over Eu-rope, Asia, Middle East, countless locations around Australia, and has worked for some of the most prestigious names in the industry, including assistant to some of Australia’s top choreographers.
Career highlights include performing and touring with Katy Perry (USA) Redfoo (USA), Kesha (USA), Sneaky Sound System, Sheppard, Havana Brown, Samantha Jade, Tina Arena, Zoe Badwi, Inaya Day & Paulini.

Michael has performed on X-Factor, So You Think You Can Dance (AUS), Dancing With The Stars (AUS), P&O Cruises, Bollywood films and countless corporate events. He has also appeared in music videos for Havana Brown, Samantha Jade, Zoe Badwi, Amiel and Nikki Webster.

Michael has recently choreographed for Universal Pictures, Fashion Aid Sydney, Carols In The Domain, Save Our Sons Ball, Arnott’s Ball, Westfield Fashion Parades, Bielfield (Music Video) & Saturday Disney.

When Michael is not busy performing he enjoys teaching the up and coming dancers of Australia.

Richelle Levett

Richelle Levett

Teacher

Richelle started dancing in 2000 at the age of 2, taking classes in RAD ballet, GWT, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, musical theatre, commercial jazz, hip hop and technique.

She has travelled to America and China, taking classes and performing.
In 2012-2013, Richelle travelled to several states in Australia to perform in shows and assist in teaching workshops.

She attended APGS which offered several opportunities for her to choreograph and perform.

In 2013-2014, Richelle was a member of the Locreado Proffessional Company.

In 2014-2015 she became an assistant teacher. Richelle was also a member of the first ‘Movement' program by Jason Winters.

In 2015 Richelle begun her first year of studying dance full time, at Village On Broadway, and in 2016 completed her Triple Threat Cert IV at Brent Street.

Richelle was a dancer for the filming of The Jason Winters contemporary Syllabus, and most recently was a dancer in the film clip, for up and coming singer, Emma Louise.

The last few years, Richelle has been enjoying teaching, choreographing, and sharing her knowledge of dance. Richelle continues to take open classes and gain experience from industry professionals.

Natalie Brock - ARAD

Exam Ballet

Natalie’s unique style and challenging classes have put her in demand as a master teacher and choreographer throughout Australia. Her extensive knowledge of Classical Ballet allows her to provide exciting and educational classes with a deep focus on technique, strength and placement, while her incredible energy and compassion has made her popular with dancers of all ages.

Natalie is a highly regarded teacher, earning distinctions from the RAD for her Advanced Teaching Certificate and High Distinction for Level 12 Vaganova with the Australian Institute of Classical Ballet. Natalie trained under the watchful eye of Gay Buckworth, Kit Lethby & Prue Bowen and Dawn & Joy Ransley. Natalie is also successful in preparing students for the Australian Ballet School IJP programs and beyond. Natalie is also an RAD teacher mentor, mentoring up and coming student teachers in conjunction with the RAD.

Natalie has had a very successful career in teaching. Her past students have had a very exciting list of achievements including several Mc Donald’s Challenge winners in Classical Ballet, Contemporary & Demi Character, finalist of the RAD Isobel Anderson Awards for Ballet and National Champions at the Showcase Australian Championships in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Lyrical. Students have also been accepted into Australian Ballet School, Royal Ballet School, Elmhurst and Victorian College of the Arts just to name a few.

She is also the proud mother of two wonderful boys!

Nathan Sheens

Nathan Sheens

Tap

Trained in all facets of the entertainment industry. He has been working since 1992 starting at Australia’s Wonderland as a singer dancer, and then Conrad Jupiters Casino QLD, working with choreographers Ross Coleman and Robyn Moase.

He is an original cast member of ‘Dein Perry’s Tap Dogs,' which he toured throughout the world including London's West End and New York City.
In 1997 Nathan became Dance Director and took over the lead role in 'Tap Dogs' for the North American Tour.

He played the lead role in Dein Perry's 'Steel City, which took him back to New York for a season at 'Radio City Music Hall.' (Broadway)

He assisted Dein Perry to choreograph the 'Sydney Olympics' in 2000 and also performed with Kylie Minogue at the closing ceremony Choreographed by William Forsythe. In 2001 he worked on the Australian musical of 'Shout' as an original cast member with minor roles under the direction of Richard Wherrett, and in 2004 performed at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney's 'Star City Casino’ in the hit musical 'Mamma Mia!' playing the role of ‘Eddie’. During this time he Co-Created, Directed and choreographed BPM beatsperminute, which has had two sell out seasons at the Sydney Opera House and finished an Australian Regional Tour. In 2007 Nathan was Co-Director/Co Producer of a new tap dance company in Sydney “Tap Works” producing ‘No Restrictions’ at Nida, and in 2008 Nathan starred in the original cast of ‘Billy Elliot’ the musical in Sydney and Melbourne. In 2010 Nathan returned to Tap Dogs for another USA tour then in 2011 returned to Australia to work as a tap dancing penguin in Happy Feet 2.

Of late Nathan has continued to choreograph and create works for many of Sydney’s top fulltime courses and junior schools, and still continues to teach the up and coming Tap Pups at Tap Dogs HQ.

Cory To'o

Cory To'o

Cory To'o has been dancing almost from birth growing up in his mothers dance studio. At age 14 he was offered a full scholarship to attend ED5 International through completing his certificate at Brent Street Studios. As a result Cory began his professional career very early. His dedication and pure passion for pop culture and can be seen performing with: Kylie Minogue, Olivia Newton-John, Bow & Arrow, Ke$ha, Kelly Rowland, George Michael, Tina Arena and more.

Cory has experience working in Film & Television and has featured on: So You Think You Can Dance, X Factor, MTV, Camp Rock, Goddess and various other projects and campaigns.

During his exciting career Cory finds complete freedom in a dance studio and his experience guides him to win many Australian Dance titles. Cory's "Coryography" is being represented in over 50 studios Australia wide. It has ranked top three in all divisions three years in a row.

Cory continues to choreograph and perform in shows on Australia's East Coast. He can be found on social media showcasing his talent as well as his fabulous and sassy personality. Cory is known for his acrobatic dance tricks, as well as his eye for style and fresh sense of fashion. He is a performance artist and aims to pass his knowledge and experience onto the next generation.

Veronica Beattie

Veronica Beattie

Teacher

Veronica has been working professionally as a performer, choreographer and teacher across all fields of the entertainment industry for the last 20 years. Musical Theatre and Jazz Dance is her passion and focus. Theatre credits include “Grease The Arena Spectacular”, “The Wizard of Oz”, “Guys and Doll’s” and “The Boy from Oz” starring Hugh Jackman. She worked on the development of Global Creatures “King Kong” and was a guest performer in Graeme Murphy’s “Tivoli” with the Sydney Dance Company”.

In Film, Veronica was cast as “Tattoo”, a featured Can Can dancer in Baz Luhrmann's “Moulin Rouge”. She was part of the workshop team prior to rehearsals, offset captaining the main cast and rehearsed the hundreds of extras. She repeated this role in Lurhmann’s “ The Great Gatsby” with the added role of rehearsal partner for the films leading men Toby Maguire and Leonardo Di Caprio.

Veronica’s choreography has been included in the “Shorter and Sweeter” on Tour for Form Dance, she directed her own cabaret revue “What is Jazz” and has choreographed for The Midday Show with Kerri-Ann, Sydney Festival, Luna Park, ABC’s “Dance Academy” Season 3 and “Candyman” for Kermond Creative which she also toured as a performer.
Veronica spent 6 years as the Jazz and Musical Theatre lecturer at UNSW for the Bachelor of Dance Education and is currently on faculty at the Sydney Dance Company Studios and at NIDA for the diploma of Musical Theatre.

Melissa Aurisch

Melissa Aurisch

Melissa Aurisch studied with Marie Walton Mahon in Newcastle NSW. Upon gaining her RAD Solo Seal, she competed in the prestigious Genee Awards in London before being offered a place at the Australian Ballet School, Melbourne. Melissa studied there in Melbourne for 3 years and after graduating, she accepted a contract with the West Australian Ballet Company in Perth WA.

Melissa enjoyed a long and successful career spanning 11 years with the WA Ballet. Her most memorable moments were dancing Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet”, Mimi in “La Boheme”, Swanhilda in “Coppelia and Giselle for her mentor and one of her idols, Lucette Aldous AC.
Melissa was given the rare opportunity to work with some of the world’s best and most talented choreographers including Hans van Manen, Toer van Schayk, Ted Brandsen (Dutch National Ballet), Ashley Page (former director Scottish Ballet), Natalie Weir (Expressions Dance), Gideon Obazanek and Stephen Page (Bangarra).

Melissa retired as Principal at the West Australian Ballet in 2004. She then began teaching ballet firstly in Perth and now in Sydney. Melissa received her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the RAD in 2015. Melissa is married to her former ballet partner, Rod Aurisch, and they live in Sydney along with their two active, loving and funny sons- Ben and Henry.

Melissa is currently on the classical ballet faculty at Caper School of Performing Arts Bella Vista and Dance Pointe Cherrybrook.
She is also the founder and Principal of “the little ballet school” in West Pennant Hills NSW. Keenly aware that one needs to constantly be learning and improving Melissa recently added Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) instructor to her growing list of job descriptions. Melissa’s deep love for well trained classical ballet and the future of ballet drives her to continue to teach students of all ages with passion and excellence.

Tali Whitton

Tali Whitton

Tali commenced training at a very young age in all genres of the Performing Arts that included Jazz, Broadway Jazz, Tap, Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Singing, Drama and Acrobatics. After Graduating from McDonald College, she continued her dance and stage craft training at Dance World Studios in Melbourne and Urban Dance Centre Sydney.

Tali has been cast in many productions, opening nights, been kept busy choreographing solo routines for her students as well as staging her own Cabaret Show. Her television commercials include Qantas, Hyundai, MBF, Foxtel’s TV 1, Sony and Sony PSP (aired in USA) as well as various suited works both in Melbourne and Sydney.

Tali has worked as back-up dancer/choreographer for Faydee, M.I.B and Cherry and choreographed for a Rugby League Cheer squad in the Hills area. Tali has Graduated at Royal Academy of Dance as a registered teacher, is in possession of Certificate IV in Dance and has studies for Diploma of Dance.

Tracy Smith

Tracy Smith

Tracy has worked professionally as a contortionist, acrobat and dancer around Australia and overseas. Her career has led to many different performing opportunities as a specialty act in clubs and corporate events including Jupiters Casino Gold Coast - “Starz”, Australia’s Wonderland -singer / dancer, Cruise ships, Grand finalist Young talent time, Pot of gold, Cabaret shows, Weddings and functions, Charity events & Talent Quests.

With over 30 years of teaching experience, including opening her own very successful dance and acrobatic studio for 21 years, Tracy is thrilled to see so many of her students go on to work professionally in the entertainment industry

Sabrina McCarthy

Sabrina McCarthy

Recently moved from Sunshine Coast as a House of Sole choreographer, Sabrina has definitely made a remarkable impression on the Sydney industry in such a short time frame.

With performance credits including Chris Lee, 50 Cent, G-Unit, RnB Friday's Tour, to name a few, Sabrina is unstoppable.
With the ability to pass on knowledge to the next up and coming generation in dance, Sabrina has taught all over the world including China, Ireland, New Zealand and now Australia!

Sabrina's passion for teaching is infectious and accomplishes results in her students that are mind blowing!

Stefani Savetta

Stefani Savetta

Stefani commenced her dance training at the age of five under the guidance of Nicole and Rebecca Micallef in the styles of Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Contemporary and Acrobatics. She began her singing training at fourteen, where she was coached by Virginia Harris, Stephen Baker and Enza Russo in the styles of Contemporary Music, Musical Theatre and Jazz.

Stefani completed a Bachelor of Music degree (Vocal Major) at JMC Academy in 2015, as well has her Master of Teaching degree at the Australian Catholic University in 2019.

From the completion of her first degree, Stefani has done numerous gigs and performances in Sydney and has performed at Disneyland and Universal Studios in Los Angeles. Stefani has six years of experience in teaching dance and five years of experience in teaching singing, where she has taught many students of all ages. Stefani enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion for dance and singing with her students.

Georgie Fabien

Georgie Fabien

Georgie grew up and began her training in a rural town in country NSW, before moving to Sydney at age 15 to begin training full-time at Brent Street Studios, graduating in 2019. Since beginning her career in Sydney, Georgie has performed alongside the likes of Guy Sebastian, Vanessa Amorosi , Horrorshow and Riton, as well as numerous world renowned DJ’s. She has also made various TV appearances including performing on Australia’s Got Talent and The Voice. Georgie is also a member of Willdabeast Adams and Janelle Ginestra’s Los Angeles based company “IMMABEAST”. Giving Georgie the opportunity to travel to LA and dance alongside both Will and Janelle as well as LA dance royalty Jade Chynoweth, Nicole Kirkland and various international choreographers. Georgie has been teaching and choreographing in Sydney for the last two years and is very excited to be sharing her experience and individual style with her students.

Cecily Pozuelo

Cecily Pozuelo

Cecily began dancing in 2007 at the age of 6 at Dance Avenue, training in various genres including RAD Ballet, Jazz, Commercial Jazz, Hiphop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Tap and Technique.

Cecily currently works for Regprom Marketing in one of their Christmas shows called ‘Clara’s Tale of The Nutcracker’ as a Mouse Guard.

Cecily has performed and been apart of many Events and Charities at the International Convention Centre in Sydney such as FashionAid. She was also a Model and Dancer for Westfield Fashion Week.

In 2018 Cecily studied Dance for her Higher School Certificate and received a Callback nomination from NESA for her Core Performance.

This year Cecily will be undertaking a CUA50113 Diploma of Dance (Elite Performing Arts) Fulltime Course at Brent Street.

Cecily is looking forward to teaching at Dance Avenue, gaining experience and sharing her knowledge.
