Dance Avenue – Creating Style

Dance Avenue is one of the biggest open class dance companies in Sydney’s west. We offer open classes in Ballet (R.A.D) Tap, Jazz, Commercial Jazz, Boys Hip Hop, Tiny Tots Classes, Acrobatics, Modern/Contemporary, Singing and Theatre Jazz!! Troupe classes are also available.

At Dance Avenue we Create Style, from the way we dress down to how we perform on stage. Our aim is to be fun and for all to enjoy while offering you the best in Sydney’s west.

Meet the teachers

Michael Corbett

Michael Corbett

Director / Choreographer

Since graduating in 2009 with a certificate IV in Performing Arts at ED5 International, Michael has become one of the most reliable commercial dancers in Australia. He has performed all over Eu-rope, Asia, Middle East, countless locations around Australia, and has worked for some of the most prestigious names in the industry, including assistant to some of Australia’s top choreographers.
Career highlights include performing and touring with Katy Perry (USA) Redfoo (USA), Ke$ha (USA), Sneaky Sound System, Sheppard, Havana Brown, Samantha Jade, Tina Arena, Zoe Badwi, Inaya Day & Paulini.

Michael has performed on X-Factor, So You Think You Can Dance (AUS), Dancing With The Stars (AUS), P&O Cruises, Bollywood films and countless corporate events. He has also appeared in music videos for Havana Brown, Samantha Jade, Zoe Badwi, Amiel and Nikki Webster.

Michael has recently choreographed for Universal Pictures, Fashion Aid Sydney, Carols In The Domain, Save Our Sons Ball, Arnott’s Ball, Westfield Fashion Parades, Bielfield (Music Video) & Saturday Disney.

When Michael is not busy performing he enjoys teaching the up and coming dancers of Australia.

Jessica Berry

Director / Choreographer

Jess began her dance training at the young age of 3 and has never looked back! She has been trained by the industries best including training at Brent Street Studios, where she completed a year of intense full-time dance studying all facets of performing arts such as Jazz, Tap, Adv Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, hip hop, Musical Theatre, Ballroom, singing, drama and attained her Certificate IV in Performing Arts.



Jess studied R.A.D Ballet at Allegria Dance Studios, receiving a Distinction in her RAD Elementary Teachers Course with training from Hilary Kaplan and Archibald McKenzie. Jess continued to further her Ballet training, studying under mentors and tutors from the RAD. Jess completed the Royal Academy of Dance CBTS Course, receiving her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies. Jess attained the qualification to become a registered Ballet Teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance. She has completed her R.A.D Ballet exams from Primary through to Advanced levels. Jess continues to further her ballet training by attending workshops and RAD accredited courses each and every year. 


Most recently in 2017, Jess has taken on the role of 'choreographer' for the Australian Youth Performing Arts Company, choreographing for the companies 2017 Show Tour. Jess was part of the AYPAC 2017 Tour of Sydney & the Central Coast, gaining her the experience of working with performers stemming from all parts of Australia.

Jess loves working with the next generation of young aspiring dancers. She has trained and choreographed for dancers who have gone on to win national titles at elite competitive levels. Jessica and her students, together, have had a very exciting list of achievements including First Place National Titles and placings at the prestigious Sydney Eisteddfod, Showcase National Dance Championships including Dancer of the Year, Hollywood Bound Championships, Dancelife Unite National Dance Championships, Melbourne Crown International & Get The Beat National Championships. Jess thank's her wonderful students who consistently excite and inspire her to continue to grow and evolve herself, as both a person & a choreographer.

Richelle Levett

Teacher

Richelle started dancing in 2000 at the age of 2, taking classes in RAD ballet, GWT, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, musical theatre, commercial jazz, hip hop and technique.

She has travelled to America and China, taking classes and performing.
In 2012-2013, Richelle travelled to several states in Australia to perform in shows and assist in teaching workshops.

She attended APGS which offered several opportunities for her to choreograph and perform.

In 2013-2014, Richelle was a member of the Locreado Proffessional Company.

In 2014-2015 she became an assistant teacher. Richelle was also a member of the first ‘Movement' program by Jason Winters.

In 2015 Richelle begun her first year of studying dance full time, at Village On Broadway, and in 2016 completed her Triple Threat Cert IV at Brent Street.

Richelle was a dancer for the filming of The Jason Winters contemporary Syllabus, and most recently was a dancer in the film clip, for up and coming singer, Emma Louise.

The last few years, Richelle has been enjoying teaching, choreographing, and sharing her knowledge of dance. Richelle continues to take open classes and gain experience from industry professionals.

Jake Paul Green

Hip Hop Teacher

Jake Paul Green is a 24 year old professional dancer, choreographer and actor living in Sydney, NSW. Jake started dancing at the age of 13 in his hometown of Perth before
moving to Sydney in 2011 to complete his Certificate IV in Performing Arts at Brent Street.
Since then, Jake has performed as a dancer at many events around the globe from Australia to Mexico, to the USA and all throughout Asia.

Working as a resident dancer on ‘The X-Factor’ for the last 6 years with The Squared
Division, Jake has also worked with other choreographers like Marko Panzic, Michael Boyd
and Amè Delves.

He has performed alongside artists like Timomatic, Ricky Martin, Charlie XCX, G.E.M.,
Redfoo, Delta Goodram, Sneaky Sound System and choreographed performances for artist ‘Elen Levon’ and boyband ‘What About Tonight’.
Now still working as a commercial dancer, Jake also teaches throughout Australia at various schools, choreographing routines for competition and concert purposes.

Kasey Alexander

Kasey has been dancing for over 20 years, starting from the age of 2 years old. Kasey has trained in all genres of dance including jazz, tap (Glenn Wood), ballet (R.A.D), contemporary, hip-hop, and ballroom.

Kasey completed year 12 at McCarthy Catholic College receiving a Band 6 for Dance, and her Major Performance and Core Composition being nominated for Callback. Kasey then went on to complete her Certificate IV in Performing Arts at Brent Street Performing Arts.

Kasey has performed alongside the likes of Ricki-Lee, The Justice Crew, Wolfmother (NRL Grand-final), Town Hall Steps, being in their music videos and various artists from the X-Factor. Kasey has also worked under the influence of Cameron Mitchell, Lucas Newland, Mitchell Wood-cock, Sally Clark, Pj Clarke, Loredo Malcolm & Jason Winters. Kasey also placed 1st Overall for the Crown International Dance Championships for Jazz in 2013, also placing 3rd overall for Ballet and Hip-Hop.

Kasey has been choreographing for Caroline Chisholm College Jazz Dance Company for 3 years, winning various awards at DanceLife Unite, City if Sydney Eisteddfod & PDSSC 1st Overall Jazz and Overall Highest Scoring School for 2016 & 2017.
Kasey has choreographed many HSC Major and Core Performance routines over the years, many receiving band 6 and nominations for Callback.

Kasey’s passion for teaching started over 5 years ago at Dance Avenue and within that time has accomplished great things at events such as choreographing routines for the City of Sydney Eisteddfod, Showcase & Hollywood Bound as well as winning the Petite Group Champions at Get The Beat National Finals in 2017!

Natalie Brock - ARAD

Exam Ballet

Natalie’s unique style and challenging classes have put her in demand as a master teacher and choreographer throughout Australia. Her extensive knowledge of Classical Ballet allows her to provide exciting and educational classes with a deep focus on technique, strength and placement, while her incredible energy and compassion has made her popular with dancers of all ages.

Natalie is a highly regarded teacher, earning distinctions from the RAD for her Advanced Teaching Certificate and High Distinction for Level 12 Vaganova with the Australian Institute of Classical Ballet. Natalie trained under the watchful eye of Gay Buckworth, Kit Lethby & Prue Bowen and Dawn & Joy Ransley. Natalie is also successful in preparing students for the Australian Ballet School IJP programs and beyond. Natalie is also an RAD teacher mentor, mentoring up and coming student teachers in conjunction with the RAD.

Natalie has had a very successful career in teaching. Her past students have had a very exciting list of achievements including several Mc Donald’s Challenge winners in Classical Ballet, Contemporary & Demi Character, finalist of the RAD Isobel Anderson Awards for Ballet and National Champions at the Showcase Australian Championships in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Lyrical. Students have also been accepted into Australian Ballet School, Royal Ballet School, Elmhurst and Victorian College of the Arts just to name a few.

She is also the proud mother of two wonderful boys!

Nathan Sheens

Nathan Sheens

Trained in all facets of the entertainment industry. He has been working since 1992 starting at Australia’s Wonderland as a singer dancer, and then Conrad Jupiters Casino QLD, working with choreographers Ross Coleman and Robyn Moase.

He is an original cast member of ‘Dein Perry’s Tap Dogs,' which he toured throughout the world including London's West End and New York City.
In 1997 Nathan became Dance Director and took over the lead role in 'Tap Dogs' for the North American Tour.

He played the lead role in Dein Perry's 'Steel City, which took him back to New York for a season at 'Radio City Music Hall.' (Broadway)

He assisted Dein Perry to choreograph the 'Sydney Olympics' in 2000 and also performed with Kylie Minogue at the closing ceremony Choreographed by William Forsythe. In 2001 he worked on the Australian musical of 'Shout' as an original cast member with minor roles under the direction of Richard Wherrett, and in 2004 performed at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney's 'Star City Casino’ in the hit musical 'Mamma Mia!' playing the role of ‘Eddie’. During this time he Co-Created, Directed and choreographed BPM beatsperminute, which has had two sell out seasons at the Sydney Opera House and finished an Australian Regional Tour. In 2007 Nathan was Co-Director/Co Producer of a new tap dance company in Sydney “Tap Works” producing ‘No Restrictions’ at Nida, and in 2008 Nathan starred in the original cast of ‘Billy Elliot’ the musical in Sydney and Melbourne. In 2010 Nathan returned to Tap Dogs for another USA tour then in 2011 returned to Australia to work as a tap dancing penguin in Happy Feet 2.

Of late Nathan has continued to choreograph and create works for many of Sydney’s top fulltime courses and junior schools, and still continues to teach the up and coming Tap Pups at Tap Dogs HQ.

Michelle Screaigh

Michelle has learned Acrobatics from the age of 5. Michelle is still very much involved in Aerobatics, both teaching and performing.

Michelle grew up in Perth and moved to Sydney in 2014 to study Performing Arts at ED5 International. Michelle has been teaching for more than 7 years, specialising in Acrobatics. Her skills are extensive, including Tumbling, Balancing and Partnering and Circus Apparatus skills, predominantly Silks, Lyra, Spanish Web and Trapeze.

Michelle has featured as a dancer, acrobat, aerialist, cheerleader, character and model. Her Stage and Theatre, Film and TV and Modelling Credits include:

Enza Russo

Enza Russo has been singing and entertaining for over 10 years. After graduating from ‘The McDonald College Of Performing Arts’, she went on to study Musical Theatre at ED5international, where she graduated with a certificate IV as a Vocal Major.

Enza has worked as a lead singer for many entertainment companies such as Millennium Entertainment International, as well as working as a lead singer around Europe with Princess Cruises. She is currently working as the lead singer on ‘Sydney Showboats’ as well as in the studio recording her debut EP.

Cory To'o

Cory To'o

Cory To'o has been dancing almost from birth growing up in his mothers dance studio. At age 14 he was offered a full scholarship to attend ED5 International through completing his certificate at Brent Street Studios. As a result Cory began his professional career very early. His dedication and pure passion for pop culture and can be seen performing with: Kylie Minogue, Olivia Newton-John, Bow & Arrow, Ke$ha, Kelly Rowland, George Michael, Tina Arena and more.

Cory has experience working in Film & Television and has featured on: So You Think You Can Dance, X Factor, MTV, Camp Rock, Goddess and various other projects and campaigns.

During his exciting career Cory finds complete freedom in a dance studio and his experience guides him to win many Australian Dance titles. Cory's "Coryography" is being represented in over 50 studios Australia wide. It has ranked top three in all divisions three years in a row.

Cory continues to choreograph and perform in shows on Australia's East Coast. He can be found on social media showcasing his talent as well as his fabulous and sassy personality. Cory is known for his acrobatic dance tricks, as well as his eye for style and fresh sense of fashion. He is a performance artist and aims to pass his knowledge and experience onto the next generation.

Veronica Beattie

Veronica Beattie

Veronica has been working professionally as a performer, choreographer and teacher across all fields of the entertainment industry for the last 20 years. Musical Theatre and Jazz Dance is her passion and focus. Theatre credits include “Grease The Arena Spectacular”, “The Wizard of Oz”, “Guys and Doll’s” and “The Boy from Oz” starring Hugh Jackman. She worked on the development of Global Creatures “King Kong” and was a guest performer in Graeme Murphy’s “Tivoli” with the Sydney Dance Company”.

In Film, Veronica was cast as “Tattoo”, a featured Can Can dancer in Baz Luhrmann's “Moulin Rouge”. She was part of the workshop team prior to rehearsals, offset captaining the main cast and rehearsed the hundreds of extras. She repeated this role in Lurhmann’s “ The Great Gatsby” with the added role of rehearsal partner for the films leading men Toby Maguire and Leonardo Di Caprio.

Veronica’s choreography has been included in the “Shorter and Sweeter” on Tour for Form Dance, she directed her own cabaret revue “What is Jazz” and has choreographed for The Midday Show with Kerri-Ann, Sydney Festival, Luna Park, ABC’s “Dance Academy” Season 3 and “Candyman” for Kermond Creative which she also toured as a performer.
Veronica spent 6 years as the Jazz and Musical Theatre lecturer at UNSW for the Bachelor of Dance Education and is currently on faculty at the Sydney Dance Company Studios and at NIDA for the diploma of Musical Theatre.
